Here is the thing a DJ cares about most in a coordinator, and it is not glamorous: whether we hear about a change from them, or from the confused look on somebody's face.

A DJ who knows the toasts are running long can stretch a dinner set instead of dead-airing the room. A DJ who finds out late is already behind. That single line of communication is most of what makes a reception flow rather than lurch, and it is the reason we pay attention to who is running a day.

Kaitlyn has been planning weddings in North Florida for more than five years under her company, A Lavish Event. She is based in Middleburg and works throughout Jacksonville, the surrounding counties, and out toward the coast.

A Lavish Event is not a one-package operation. Kaitlyn scales what she does to what a couple actually needs, which matters if you are somewhere between "we have this handled" and "please take the wheel."

We are careful on this page, because characterising how somebody else runs their business is not really ours to do. So here is what is on the record rather than what we could speculate.

She has been at it five-plus years, carries 5.0 stars across the wedding directories, and is a preferred vendor at Azaleana Manor. Her tiers run from elopements through to full planning, so there is a version of her service at most scales.

Do you need a planner if you already have a DJ?

Fair question, and we will answer it against our own interest: a good DJ can carry a simple reception without a coordinator. We do it regularly.

What a DJ cannot do is be in two places at once. We are behind the booth. We cannot chase down a late florist, re-pin a boutonniere, find the marriage license, or tell the caterer that dinner is sliding fifteen minutes. On a wedding with multiple vendors, a ceremony and reception in different spaces, or a guest count past about a hundred, a coordinator stops being a luxury and starts being the reason the day holds together.
