The White Room Wedding DJ
+ Live Musicians

COS Celebrations is a preferred wedding DJ and live musician provider at The White Room in St. Augustine, Florida. Built in 1888 and now a National Historic Landmark on the scenic bayfront, The White Room offers three distinct event spaces under one roof - and after 100+ weddings here, we have learned how sound behaves differently in each one. The exposed brick of the Grand Ballroom, the open-air Rooftop overlooking Matanzas Bay, the intimate crystal-chandelier setting of Villa Blanca - each space demands a different approach to audio, energy, and timing. That is what sets us apart from DJs who treat every venue the same. Our founder toured internationally as a saxophonist with Usher and Alicia Keys before building COS, which is why we pioneered the DJ + live saxophone model in St. Augustine. We are based right here in town - no travel fees, in-person meetings whenever you need them, and the kind of responsiveness that only comes from locals who genuinely know the venue staff by name. With 500+ five-star reviews and over 2,000 weddings behind us, couples and coordinators at The White Room trust us to deliver every time.

Three Distinct Spaces, One Venue

Know Your Space Before You Book

Every White Room wedding plays out across multiple spaces. After 100+ events here, we have learned what works in each one - and what does not.

The Grand Ballroom

The second-floor Ballroom is where most White Room receptions happen, and for good reason. The elegant mahogany bar, wrap-around windows with bayfront views, and grand white columns create a classic atmosphere. But the exposed 1888 brick walls and soaring ceilings create a specific acoustic challenge - low frequencies build up fast and speeches can get muddy without proper EQ. After hundreds of events in this room, we have dialed in the exact speaker placement and frequency adjustments that make this space sound as good as it looks. The 16-by-20-foot dance floor is generous, and with our uplighting highlighting the architecture, the Ballroom transforms from elegant to electric once the dancing starts. Capacity: up to 250 guests seated.

The Loft and Rooftop

The third-floor Loft and Rooftop is where The White Room truly stands apart from every other venue in St. Augustine. The west-facing Rooftop Terrace offers panoramic views of Matanzas Bay, the Bridge of Lions, and the historic downtown skyline - and because it faces west, sunset ceremonies here are extraordinary. We time the processional music to golden hour and coordinate with the venue's team so vows happen in that perfect window of warm light. The challenge is wind. Sound off the bay can be unpredictable, so we use directional wireless microphones rated for outdoor conditions and position speakers to minimize wind interference. After the ceremony, guests move into the industrial-chic Loft with its original Hart Pine floors, string lights, and exposed brick for a reception that feels completely different from the Ballroom. The intimate 10-by-13-foot dance floor concentrates energy - smaller floors actually make for better dance parties. Rooftop capacity: 150 for ceremonies.

Villa Blanca

The ground-floor Villa Blanca is The White Room's most intimate space, and it is where our live saxophone truly shines. The vaulted ceilings and crystal chandeliers create a Mediterranean-inspired setting with natural light pouring through the windows - photographers love it, and so do we. The acoustics in Villa Blanca are warmer and more contained than the Ballroom, which means a solo saxophone fills the room perfectly without competing with ambient noise. Most couples use Villa Blanca for their ceremony and then transition upstairs for cocktails and reception. That transition is one of the trickiest parts of a White Room wedding - guests need to move between floors while the couple does portraits - and we have perfected the timing and ambient music that keeps the energy flowing during the switch. The 12-by-12-foot dance floor works beautifully for intimate receptions of 100 guests or fewer.

"I cannot recommend Corey from COS enough. He fully exceeded our expectations when our wedding at the White Room got postponed due to Hurricane Milton. He accommodated on short notice and made our reception the best night ever. Between him playing the saxophone and playing music that catered to the crowd, we couldn't get off the dance floor the whole night. The planning process was so seamless."

Why White Room Couples Choose COS

100+ White Room Weddings

We have performed in every White Room space - Ballroom, Loft, Rooftop, Villa Blanca - more times than we can count. We know the load-in through the alley entrance, the power outlet locations, and exactly how to coordinate with their event management team. No learning curve on your wedding day.

DJ + Live Saxophone

The saxophone sounds different in each White Room space. In Villa Blanca, the warm acoustics let it fill the room naturally. On the Rooftop, we mic it for projection against the open air. In the Ballroom, the high ceilings give it that concert-hall resonance. We adapt because we actually understand how sound works in these rooms.

Space-to-Space Transitions

Most White Room weddings use two or three spaces. Ceremony on the Rooftop, cocktails in Villa Blanca, reception in the Loft. Each transition requires repositioning audio, adjusting the energy, and coordinating with the venue team. We have done this so many times it runs like clockwork.

Coordinator Relationships

We work regularly with The White Room's coordinators - Destiny, Giselle, Shannon, and the rest of the team. When your DJ already has a working relationship with your venue coordinator, the communication on your wedding day is effortless. That is something you cannot get from a DJ who has never been here.

Insider Tips for White Room Weddings

After 100+ weddings here, these are the things we wish every couple knew before booking:

The Rooftop Wind Factor

The Rooftop faces west over Matanzas Bay, which means afternoon breezes are common - especially during spring and fall. Standard lapel microphones pick up wind noise that drowns out vows. We use directional wireless handhelds and shotgun-style mics positioned to minimize wind interference, and we always bring a backup system. If your officiant is soft-spoken, we will do a sound check during rehearsal to dial in the gain before anyone arrives.

Villa Blanca to Ballroom Flow

The most common White Room wedding layout is ceremony in Villa Blanca, cocktails on the Rooftop or courtyard, and reception in the Ballroom or Loft. The transition between floors is the moment where energy can drop if the music goes quiet. We pre-set speakers on each floor so there is continuous ambient music as guests move between spaces. The couple gets 20-25 minutes for portraits during cocktail hour, and we keep the cocktail music upbeat enough to maintain the mood without competing with conversation.

1888 Brick Wall Acoustics

The Grand Ballroom's exposed brick walls from 1888 look incredible but create specific acoustic challenges. Hard surfaces reflect high frequencies, which can make speeches sound harsh, and the tall ceilings allow low-end buildup. We cut specific frequency ranges on our EQ for this room - slightly rolling off the highs and tightening the bass - so toasts sound clear and music sounds full without overwhelming conversation at the tables. Most DJs set their system the same way everywhere. We do not.

The Loft Dance Floor Is Your Secret Weapon

The Loft's 10-by-13-foot dance floor is smaller than the Ballroom's, and some couples worry about that. They should not. A compact dance floor concentrates your guests and creates the feeling of a packed party even with 80 people. We have seen 200-guest weddings in the Ballroom where the dance floor looks half-empty, and 100-guest weddings in the Loft where the energy is absolutely electric. If your priority is a packed dance floor, the Loft is your best bet.

Trolley Timing and Guest Arrivals

The White Room offers trolley services for parking since downtown St. Augustine has limited spots. Trolleys run on a loop, which means your guests arrive in waves rather than all at once. We play arrival music that builds gradually and keeps the atmosphere welcoming without peaking too early. We also coordinate with the venue coordinator on when the last trolley arrives so we know exactly when to transition from pre-ceremony music to the processional. It is a small detail, but it prevents that awkward moment where the ceremony starts with half the chairs empty.

A National Historic Landmark

135 Years of History at 1 King Street

The building at 1 King Street has been a St. Augustine landmark since 1888, when it opened as The Surprise Store - the largest department store on Florida's East Coast. In 1936 it became the Plaza Hotel, and from 1949 to 1986 it housed the famous Potter's Wax Museum. During the 2006 renovation that created The White Room, the original brick walls from 1888 were discovered behind plaster, and the Hart Pine floors on the third floor were restored to their original grandeur. Today it is a National Historic Landmark and one of the most sought-after wedding venues in the Southeast, having hosted over 2,700 weddings since opening. When you celebrate at The White Room, you are getting married in a building that has been part of St. Augustine's story for over 135 years.

Absolutely - the Rooftop is one of our specialties. We use directional wireless microphones rated for outdoor use and always bring backup equipment. We also coordinate ceremony timing with sunset for golden hour on the west-facing terrace.

What makes COS different from other White Room DJs?

Two things. First, we are musicians - our founder toured internationally as a saxophonist before starting COS, which is why we offer live saxophone during your first dance and key moments. Second, our 100+ White Room weddings means we have dialed in the specific acoustics for each space. We know the EQ adjustments for the Grand Ballroom's exposed brick, the wind patterns on the Rooftop, and the intimate sound profile of Villa Blanca.

How far in advance should we book for a White Room wedding?

The White Room has hosted over 2,700 weddings since 2006, so prime dates fill fast. We recommend securing your DJ 10-14 months in advance, especially for peak season Saturday evenings from March through May and September through November.
